After having been announced in September last year, Sony Ericsson's XPeria X2 has finally made its way to our Malaysian shores.

Marking its release as yet another Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone, the Xperia X2 comes packed with a tightly-spaced QWERTY keyboard, which remains hidden underneath its 3.2-inch, 480 x 800-pixel resistive touch-screen. However, unlike the Nokia N97, the X2's screen merely pushes itself out in parallel with its keyboard.

Weighing about 155grams, the X2 also boasts a 8.1-megapixel auto-focus camera, a mark higher than many of its counterparts in the market. However, many users may find the phone to be lacking in the internal storage department with its 110MB constraints, although it does have a microSD slot. From what we saw, it has no Snapdragon just yet, and it runs on a Qualcomm MSM7200 528MHz CPU. Like many other phones in its lineup, the X2 comes with the usual bells and whistles that you might see in a smartphone such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS.

A feature that the company is proud to present are its homescreen Panels. With some preloaded and a few more available for download (on Sony Ericsson's online app store, PlayNow arena), users can switch home-screen panels between different times of the day to suit their itineraries. For instance, an X2 user can schedule a CNN panel to display news for a 2-hour period at 10am in the morning before making way for a Skype panel later in the afternoon.

Another function that Sony Ericsson has highlighted in the phone's release is its round-the-clock support team, which the company claims to have a Xperia technical team on standby in selected countries.
