Maxis First to Successfully Implement Anti-Spam Solutions Print E-mail

Maxis says in a press release that it has successfully rolled out its Anti Spam Platform, designed to block unsolicited short messaging services (“SMS”), such as spam and spoof SMS, from reaching its postpaid and prepaid customers. According to Maxis, it is the first Malaysian operator to roll out this service. The Anti Spam Platform was installed and operational in July 2007, ahead of the September 30 deadline by the Ministry of Energy, Water and Communications.

Sanyo in talks to sell its mobile division Print E-mail

In yet another sign of consolidation in the industry following fierce competition Sanyo Electric Co's is rumored to be in talks to sell its loss making mobile phone division to Kyocera Corp. The deal, if it happens, would make Kyocera the world's No.7 cell phone maker. Kyocera is in 10th position currently with Sanyo one place behind.

MCMC bars DiGi from restricting its dealers Print E-mail

The Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission(MCMC) has directed DiGi Telecommunication Sdn Bhd to comply with Section 136 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 that took effect on 28 August 2007.
