Sony w995 Walkman

It was Sony's Walkman that changed the face of portable music everywhere, when it made its first appearance in the early 80s. Almost thirty years later the electronics giant is at it again, and this time it's incorporating the latest digital music features into two of its latest phone models. Enter the W995 and the W508 Walkman, which Sony Ericsson states will offer more entertainment and style to what it claims is the best music application in mobile devices yet.

Looking first at the W995, it houses a 2.6-inch screen that will allow for watching news and TV shows in premium video quality, as well as enable users to check out the latest online streaming videos via 3G or WiFi. Accompanied by a 8.1-megapixel digital camera that boasts an 16x digital zoom, the W995 comes bundled with MediaGo; a multimedia manager that not only keeps your music tracks sorted but also acts as a fully fledged music player.

With the ability to import from iTunes, MediaGo syncs your playlists automatically between your phone and your desktop to keep the former updated. Like its Apple counterpart, it also enables for CD-burning, allowing you to bring your music and audio books with you. The W995 is currently retailing at RM1,899.

Next on the line is the W508 Walkman, which includes a popular feature known as SensMe. SensMe automatically assigns a mood to every track in your playlists based on your mood and style, thereby allowing you to change a playlist depending on your general emotional state. With its shake and gesture capabilities, you can not only raise the volume or set a desired playback function, but also mute your W508 with the literal flick of the wrist. With at 3.2-megapixel camera and HSDPA capability,
it is currently retailing for RM999.
