Alcatel Lucent today announced that it
has been awarded a two year frame contract worth Euro 6.5 million in
collaboration with KUB Telekomunikasi Sdn Bhd (KUBTel).
Alcatel-Lucent will supply its Internet
Protocal (IP) based fixed broadband access to Telekom Malaysia Berhad
while KUBTel will install and commission the system, as well as
provide technical support.
"This project reinforces our
strategic relationships with KUBTel and TM, which has already
selected Alcatel-Lucent's Metro Ethernet and aggregation solutions,"
said Pierre Cheyron, Alcatel-Lucent country senior officer and
managing director in Malaysia.
The Alcatel-Lucent broadband access
solution, including 7302 Intelligent Service Access Manager (ISAM)
and the related 5523 AWS Element Manager will enable TM to quickly
and cost effectively roll out triple play services.
The contract also involves maintenance
and network integration.
TM is currently bidding for the High
Speed Broadband Project (HSBB) from the Government that is worth
about RM15.2 billion. The HSBB project involves rolling out
Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) offering high speed broadband to the home or
building.
