 Acer has recently launched their latest stylish
small form factor notebook, the Aspire one. This notebook measures only 249 x
170 x 29 mm and weighs 985 g. Sporting an 8.9 inch display, it is said that the
Aspire one is smaller than an average office diary.
For connectivity, the Aspire one comes installed with WiFi 802.11b/g.
Embedded WiMAX or 3G wireless technologies will be available later this year.
It comes with two choices of operating systems; the LinPus
Linux Lite and Windows XP Home (available later). For the Linux operating
system, the interface shows that there are four distinct areas, Connect, Works,
Fun and Files. This setup is said to improve user experience and easy access. Also
preinstalled are OpenOffice 2.3, OneMail and One Messenger.
As for the Windows XP version, it comes with Acer eRecovery
Management, Acer Launch Manager, Adobe Reader, McAfee Internet Security Suite
and MS Office Trial 2007.
The notebook is powered by Intel Atom processor (1.6 GHz,
533 MHz FSB, 512 Kb L2 cache) 1GB or 1.5GB RAM, 8GB flash memory or 120GB HDD,
5-in-1 card reader and integrated Intel graphics.
The Aspire one comes with an integrated webcam for video
streaming, video chats and conferences. It is priced at RM1399 and available in
sapphire blue and seashell white. In the near future, golden brown and coral
pink will be available.
