Image For those of you who have been waiting in anticipation for more small form factor notebooks rejoice as ASUS has announced its new generation of Eee PCs – the Eee PCs 901 and 1000. ASUS also announced its new Mini GPS PDA phone, P320, a PDA phone designed for the fashion conscious.

Both the Eee PC 901 and 1000 models are equipped with Solid State Drives (SSDs) which allows lower consumption, faster boot time, produces less heat and are less susceptible to shock damage.

In the case of the Eee PC 1000 however, you have the option of using a normal hard disk in 80GB capacity with the Eee PC 1000H model instead of the 40GB SSD on the normal Eee 1000 model. Another difference between the two 1000 models is that the Eee 1000H is Dolby Sound Room Certified and is slightly heavier weighing in at 1.45kg while the 1000 weighs 1.33kg.

Both the Eee PC 1000 and 1000H are equipped with a 10.2 inch display, 1.3 megapixel camera and a built-in Digital Array Mic. The battery on 1000H can last up to 7 hours while the 1000 can last up to 7.5 hours.

The Eee PC 901 comes with 12GB SSD on the Windows XP version and 20GB on Linux version. It is also equipped with a 1.3 megapixel camera, the Digital Array Mic and the Dolby Sound Room Certified application.

Both series uses the Intel Atom chipset and comes in 6 colours - Sakura, Sweet Pea, Urban Metropolis, White Peony, Pearl White and Fine Ebony.

Measuring at 99 x 54.5 x 13.35mm, the ASUS P320 runs on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional with a TI OMAP 850 200MHz processor. It sports a 2.6 inch TFT touch screen display, 2 megapixel camera, 128MB Flash ROM, 64MB DDR RAM as well as a microSD slot for increased memory. It also has WiFi, USB v1.1 and Bluetooth v2.0 for connectivity and a SiRF Star III GPS chipset.

The ASUS P320 also comes with the ASUS Today application which features a variety of exclusive ASUS applications designed for user convenience. This includes the ASUS RSS reader, UR Time and Auto Cleaner, an application that helps keep the P320 memory free for smoother application running.

The Eee PC 901 and Eee PC 1000 series will be available in the market soon and will be priced at RM1,699 and RM1,999 onwards respectively. The ASUS P320 on the other hand is already available at ASUS authorised dealers and is priced at RM1,299.
