Nokia revealed two new phones aimed at the
corporate sector yesterday at Nokia Connection 2008 in Singapore, re-establishing
its fading presence in the business world. The last Nokia business phone was
the E51, which entered the Malaysian market around nine months ago. The two new
phones are the E66 and E71, expected to be available in July or August.
Both phones are optimised for email,
supporting email accounts from more than a thousand Internet service providers
(ISPs) around the world, as well as Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Hotmail. Users who use Microsoft Exchange at
work can access their email using the Mail for Exchange mobile email client
which comes preloaded with the devices. You can get reliable real-time access to
their email, calendar, contacts and tasks, as well as download attachments like
Word, Excel, Powerpoint or PDF files directly to their devices.
The Nokia E66 is the successor of the E65.
It is a S60 v3 slider with WiFi, Bluetooth A2DP,GPS, HSDPA, 110 MB internal
memory, an accelerometer, a microSD card slot that supports up to 8 GB, a 3.2
megapixel camera and a 2.4 inch QVGA LCD. The phone also supports Nokia’s new Ovi
Internet service, which will enable access to social network sites like
MySpace, Flickr and Facebook right from the phone.
The Nokia E71 is a replacement for the
E61i. It comes with a QWERTY keyboard and despite that, is just 10 mm thick.
Nokia claims it is the thinnest phone with a QWERTY keyboard. Other features
are WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, HSDPA, A-GPS, a 3.2 megapixel autofocus camera and a
2.36 inch QVGA LCD.
Also
announced were a number of Nokia accessories. The Nokia Car Kit CK-100 features
Nokia Talk voice guidance and a remote control, while the Nokia Display Car Kit
CK-600 features a removable colour display and a remote control with
illuminated keys for active call management. Nokia also announced the Nokia
Bluetooth Headset BH-212, as well as the Nokia Mobile Holder CR-106 and Nokia
Mobile Holder CR-105 designed to complement the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66
respectively.
