Nokia has announced that it is working with Microsoft to
bring the Microsoft Silverlight platform into the Symbian S60 operating system.
This move will potentially make Silverlight available to around 7% of the mobile
phones sold in the market today.
Silverlight is Microsoft’s answer to the much more well
known Adobe Flash application. Mobile is becoming an increasing important
market and Adobe is making strong inroads there too. Flash and Silverlight are
competing to become the default plug-in on mobile devices to deliver interactive
multimedia offerings.
