The current Lithium-Ion technology is often
not enough for users especially those with power hungry devices. Stanford
researchers report that heavy boost to the technology is just behind the
corner. According to them we should be enjoying 10x more juice than normal.
The new invention is getting a patent
application filed and the researchers are negotiating a deal with battery
manufacturers. The secret behind this great invention is called silicon
nano-wires - a new way of storing the lithium in the battery.
The lithium is stored in a mesh of tiny
nanowires and it will grow four times their actual size as they store the
lithium.
