Freelance model
S. Hemananthani
If all nurses were as pretty as Irene Tan, perhaps people would not dread going to the hospital as much as they do. It’s hard to imagine it now that she regularly graces the covers of magazines, but Irene did start her career as a nurse.
After becoming runner up in a local beauty pageant she decided to go into modelling full time. Having done print and television ads, she now has her sights set on the big screen. Yes, her dream is to make it in the movies. She’s already got a taste of acting, appearing in a local drama Tin Gei Bin as well as in a Korean drama show as an extra.
Leading the busy and hectic lifestyle of a model, Irene needs two mobile phones. One is a Sony Ericsson k700i and the other, a Sony Ericsson T610. She opts for SE phones because she says they are cheaper than Nokias yet the functions are more or less the same.
She uses SMS just like anyone else but unlike many of her friends, she actually prefers to talk on the phone. “This gets the message across clearly and saves time,” she says. Irene can be contacted for modelling gigs or for plain ol’ friendship at
