Jinz Pang, 22, an engineering student at Multimedia University (MMU), in Malaysia’s first-ever intelligent city, Cyberjaya, is working on a mobile software for her final year project.
“It’s an application that allows students to access a multimedia learning system through a mobile device,” she explains. “Through this system they can download lecture notes just as they would through a PC. We’re just moving the idea onto the mobile platform.”
She says that such an application could be useful for distance learning. Best of all, you don’t even need 3G for it to work. “GPRS will do,” she tells MW.
Jinz’s phone is a Nokia 7610. She chose it because it’s one of the most affordable megapixel phones around. Naturally, she loves taking pictures on her phone, many of which end up on her blog (www.jinlang.blogspot.com).
Now in her final year at MMU, Jinz looks forward to starting a career. “After studying for so long, I want to experience an engineer’s life,” she says. “Maybe five years later, I’ll do something entrepreneurial… I haven’t figured out what yet!”
