She’s hot and she is taking on the world! MW talks to the beautiful hannah t.
Khaw Chia Hui
What kind of phone do you own?
PDA phone. It’s an O2 Executive :)
Do you still like it?
Well, yeah! I like its functionality. It’s my digital PA and it never misses any detail. The memory capacity fits my requirements and it also provides me entertainment on the go.
Which phone are you eyeing next?
Not at the moment. But if Nokia could come out with something similar, it’d be perfect.
Any mishaps happened to any of your phones?
Thank God… no!
How important is your mobile phone?
Very important, indeed. I simply cannot live without it.
Are you into mobile games?
Not just yet.
Do you use 3G? What’s your experience with 3G?
I do. It’s a cool feature but unfortunately not many people I know use it.
What other gadgets do you own?
The latest IPOD, I-HOME system, an Alpine/IPOD docking system for my car, a PS2 and the Sony Vaio TX range which is sleek and compact.
Do you give out your mobile numbers to eager fans?
I don’t! Haha.
Tell us a bit about your experience recording an album?
It’s an experience of character building – challenging in many ways but a fulfilling experience indeed. It’s not as easy as it seems and it requires a lot of dedication, commitment, perseverance, discipline, patience, persistence and most importantly the passion! This not only applies to me but also the rest of my team. It’s all about teamwork, and I’m blessed to be working with some of the best and most talented people in the music industry, from my music creator, supaFOOK, to my Brand Management, Studeo Grafix. I’d say it is indeed the experience of a lifetime – simply priceless!
A short description about your latest album?
Our concept and direction is unique and very differentiated. Our approach is new and has never been implemented in Malaysia. We’re very privileged to have a team of all-star writers on board which include Jorgen Elofssen, Andrew Fromm and Christopher Rojas, who have written chart-topping hits for big stars like Natalie Imbruglia, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys. I don’t wanna spoil the surprise, so get your copy online through www.hannahtclub.com or any Rock Corner music stores or myNEWS.com magazine stores. Join me at my exclusive t-blog and tell me what you think!
How did winning the pageant change your life?
Indeed, it changed a huge part of me! I used to be very shy and reserved. The experience totally changed my perception and mindset, especially during my trip to Montreal, Canada where I represented Malaysia in the World Finals against 35 other countries. Miraculously I came out as the 2nd Runner-up and the winner of the Miss Congeniality subsidiary title. Surprisingly nobody knew that Malaysia existed until I showed them pictures of our country and told them about the infrastructure and the rich heritage and culture we have within our peaceful and harmonious multiracial society. They were amazed that we had electricity and high-rise buildings, not to mention the twin towers and the Sepang F1 circuit!
Any experiences with phone stalkers?
Yes, which is why I changed my phone number 5 times within the past 4 years. It’s unbelievable!
What is the weirdest encounter you had with a fan?
I had a guy calling me at random times asking me how my hokkien mee or laksa tasted, and it was weird because I’d be in the middle of eating just that! And then I had gifts and my favourite foods hanging on the door of my apartment every evening when I got home. I’d get flowers and chocolates every now and then. It was really REALLY freaky! So I quickly moved out and changed my number!
Is there anything else you are currently doing?
I’m trying to concentrate on music now, slowly laying off the hosting gigs, etc. My last show is a very interesting reality show called What Women Want which premiers on 8TV on 14 December 2006. Catch it every Thursday at 10.30pm.
What do you look forward to do in the future?
Helping young people realise their dream and passion just as I did. Success is nothing if you don’t share it with others and help them achieve the same. It’s an indescribable joy that unfortunately not many get to feel. There are many MANY talented young people out there who don’t have the opportunity to explore their talents and skills and I want to be able to help them just as my team did for me… and with me.
Let’s talk about Internet lifestyle for a while. Are you a keen user?
Yes, I think it’s a very powerful tool. There are no boundaries and the possibilities are endless.
I see you have a website. Tell us a bit about that.
Yes check it out at www.hannahtclub.com for an interactive and comprehensive experience! It’s a place for my fans to get the latest information and updates as well as communicate and stay in touch with me. With the availability of the e-commerce facility on t-site, they can also purchase the album as well as other merchandise. It’s for the convenience of my supportive fans… a one-stop shop without having to physically leave the comfort of home.
What do you think about the new media, e.g. blogs, Youtube and such?
It’s great. We’re moving into the virtual era very quickly and facilities/features like these can work both ways to either enhance a brand, if use constructively, or jeopardise a brand, if exploited.
Lastly, how do you unwind after a long day at work?
Music therapy works really well and is best accompanied by a strong deep tissue massage. Cooking also does it for me, if I’m not too tired. And on days when the weather is good and I have 3 or more hours to myself, I resort to speed therapy – karting! :)
