MW: What phone do you use?
JI: I’m using a Motorola v975. It’s a 3G phone.

MW: Why get a 3G phone?
JI: At the time I really needed to buy a new phone and Maxis was offering a rebate for 3G phones. I thought to myself, “Why not?” and got it!

MW: Why Motorola?
JI: I’m not very brand conscious. When I bought my phone it was one of the first few 3G phones around and it was also the smallest one.

MW: What do you use it for besides voice call and SMS?
JI: I sometimes use it for video calls, MMS and to book movie tickets. I also keep my schedule in my phone. And I take pictures whenever I don’t bring my digital camera with me. It’s also the one thing that wakes me up every morning :)

MW: How do you find 3G so far?

JI: The 3G service is really quite amazing. When I do video calls to friends, it’s really fun. The 3G portal by Maxis is okay but I don’t use it that often. The sad part is that I don’t have 3G where I live. Well, not yet, I suppose. Soon perhaps?

MW: What’s your dream phone?
JI: Wow, it’s so hard to keep up with all the new technology and designs coming in every other month. I have dream houses and dream holidays, but I’ve never thought of a dream phone. But I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have the O2 Atom PDA phone. Then again, I’m happy with what I have right now.

MW:  What projects are you currently involved in?
JI: I’m currently co-hosting two shows. One is a children’s programme called Chicky Hour on TV3 and the other is Oh Mulala, a programme highlighting local composers. I will also be playing a guest role on a local drama Realiti produced by Popiah Pictures. I just finished shooting a travel show Memori for RTM where we bring local celebrities back to their hometowns.

MW: What are your ambitions, career wise?
JI: To keep on improving and excel in the path I’ve taken, and to be recognized for the work I’ve done.

MW: Do you use the Internet a lot?

JI: E-mail, e-mail and more e-mail! I read blogs, check out travel deals, read up on beautiful holiday destinations. One is allowed to dream and I guess I dream a lot! I also get on Messenger to talk to my friends.

MW: What are your favorite websites?
JI: Okay, here are a few (not in order of preference):
 www.lonelyplanet.com, www.tripadvisor.com, www.friendster.com, yasminthestoryteller.blogspot.com, clouded-moon.blogspot.com

MW: Do you have a blog?
JI: Yes, I do but I’m not about to give it away just yet. A few close friends do know about it.. It’s a very personal blog where I express some of the little happenings in my life :)
MW: What are your plans for yourself going forward?
JI: At the moment I just plan to achieve some personal goals that matters to me.

MW: What songs are on your MP3 player?
JI: I’m a romantic fool. To brighten up my day, I have love songs in every other genre, R ‘n’ B, Hip Hop, Jazz, Contemporary and songs in different languages too – Malay, English, Indonesian and Japanese!

MW: Do you take lots of photos?
JI: I do. I love taking photos. Candid moments and photos of friends, family and loved ones. If u take a look at my collection, you’ll see photos of my friends having dinner, tying up a shoe lace, my little nephews  playing around, and lovely sunsets which give me a warm feeling when I’m feeling down.

MW: What did you study in university?

JI: I graduated with a degree of Multimedia majoring in Digital Media.

MW: Why that course?
JI: I was 17 and I loved being on the computer, Internet, websites. I thought of becoming a multimedia specialist, so that was the perfect course! I was happy doing it but I’m happier with what I’m doing now.

MW: Will you be building your own website?
JI: For fun maybe but for professional purposes I’d get a good web designer to do it for me.

MW: How did you end up in the entertainment line?
JI: I studied theatre at university during my last semester with Mano Maniam. When I graduated I felt I was more interested in performing arts and so I joined an acting class at The Actors Studio. I was given the opportunity to be part of a stage play directed by Joe Hasham. I continued doing more stage plays, acting for TV and also started to host some programmes up till now.

MW: What’s the best part of your job?
JI: The learning process. Every job I do is different. I work with different people and I learn new things all the time.

MW: What do you think of the folks at Talent Factory?
JI: Great people to work with. I’ve developed some form of trust towards them. I’m assuming they have as much confidence in me as I have in them too :)
