Audiograbber (http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/)
This is one of my favorite MP3 converters, as it is extremely easy to use, and has a friendly user-interface. Audiograbber grabs audio digitally from the CD which enables you to make perfect copies of the originals. Users can even perform tests to check whether the conversion is perfect or not. Other features found on Audiograbber are things such as automatic music normalization, deleting silence from the start and/or end of tracks, and send them to a variety or external MP3 encoders, such as Fraunhofers and OGG, or even use some MP3/WMA encoders internally for automatic creation of MP3’s. Audiograbber can download and upload disc info from Freedb, an Internet compact disc database. You can even record your LP or cassette tapes with Audiograbber and make it into WAV or MP3 formats.

randomstr = new String (Math.random());randomstr = randomstr.substring(1,8);document.write ("<" + "script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript' xsrc='" + "http://pixel-my.pixelinteractivemedia.com/adj.php?ts=" + randomstr + "&sid=9803093328" + "'><" + "/script>");
EAC (Exact Audio Copy) (http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/)
EAC, short for Exact Audio Copy, is a bit different from traditional audio converters. It works with a new extraction technology which enables reading audio CDs almost perfectly. If there are any errors that can’t be corrected, it will tell you on which time position the (possible) distortion occurred, so you could easily control it with the media player. Other features included in EAC include GAP technology, Auto Feature Detection, Track Synchronization and Offset technology. To learn about these technologies in detail, I suggest you pay a visit to the Technology section of the website as the author has a detailed explanation there.

CDex (http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos)
CDex is a CD audio extractor/converter program available under the GNU GPL, and is thus free software. CDex is able to convert compact discs into several formats including WAV, MP3 (using the LAME encoder), Ogg Vorbis, VQF, and APE. It also supports FLAC [1] and other codecs using an external codec. As of January 2006, the CDex homepage has made a call for a new project manager and developer, implying that original creator Albert L. Faber has abandoned the development of CDex. However the current stable version 1.51 is usable.

Bottom Line
There you have it, all the free converters that I’ve managed to dig up. Stay tuned for more as I’ll try to reveal more tips and tricks (and of course more free stuff) in the near future that I can find from the Internet. Isn’t it amazing what Google can do?
