HTC_LTE

HTC has always been associated with quality built devices and going with the decision to be an early LTE adopter was meant to launch it to new heights. Winston Yung, HTC's chief financial officer (CFO) however has recently admitted that perhaps that was a mistake.

The LTE devices from HTC proved to be left wanting for better design: battery life being the worst problem. The second would be the thicker form factor to accomodate a bigger battery.

The summit, themed "Broadband Redefined through Smart Transformation", was supported by Telekom Malaysia and research partner Heavy Reading. Attended by over300 delegates from leading broadband players from more than 50 global telecom operators, the summit brought about collaborative discussions on successful broadband transformation case studies and industry best practices in leveraging on changes brought about by the rapid growth in national broadband network, convergence and multimedia services.

Graced by Dato' Joseph Salang, Deputy Minister of Information, Communication and Culture Ministry, Malaysia, the Deputy Minister said, "Broadband cannot just be for higher and higher speeds, but must transform the people's lives."

As the demand for higher bandwidth accelerates and outpaces revenue growth, and as national broadband strategies developed by an ever-increasing number of countries serve as the main catalysts to spur the development of fixed networks, the key challenge of network operators is to continue to pursue and embrace broadband strategies to take advantage of the great opportunities that this new communication culture brings".

A notable highlight of the summit was the presentation by Giorgio Migliarina, Chief Technology and Innovation Officer of Telekom Malaysia, as he shared the outlooks, approaches, achievements and challenges of the end-to-end NGN/IMS, HSBB and IPTV deployment. On stage was also Jin Dong Bin, Senior Chief Engineer of China Telecom, to deliver a comprehensive keynote speech about China Telecom's transformation strategies and broadband development, which encompasses the forward-thinking FTTX, Optical City, IMS and ICT strategies.
