YouTube was officially launched in Malaysia yesterday and we thought we would just share a few pictures with you from the event.
Kicked off with speeches from the Country Manager of Google Malaysia, Mr. Sajith Sivanandan and also Mr. Adam Smith, Director for Product Management of YouTube Asia Pacific, the party included performances by Tenderfist, Joe Flizzow, Mizz Nina and Yuna. There was also a congratulatory video shown which can be seen here:

Also announced at the event was a very welcomed deal signed with Music Authors’ Copyright Protection so that Malaysian songwriters and composers benefit financially from having their videos on YouTube. In conjunction with this launch, YouTube also forged partnership agreements with Malaysian media companies like Astro Malaysia and KRU Studios. Besides that, YouTube has also secured masthead advertisement on the YouTube Malaysia homepage from Dutch Lady, Malaysia Airlines, Maxis and Standard Chartered for the launch week.
By choosing ‘Malaysia’ as the location setting at the bottom of the YouTube homepage or going directly to www.youtube.com.my, Malaysians can easily and quickly find videos most relevant to them, including expanded content from local and global partners.
