DiGi has the best office in town!

Okay, it’s not really in town but DiGi’s new HQ (D’House) at Subang Hi-Tech Industrial Park has got to be the coolest telco HQ in Malaysia.

The media had a chance to check the new HQ out when DiGi threw a party on Tuesday, 22 August.

Everyone must have been impressed with the abstract glass architecture, open spaces and the even more open office setup. I also gathered that the IT people at DiGi have set up a state of the art IT system that allows anyone to work from anywhere in the building as if they are at their own desk. I didn’t see any cubicles, by the way. And their meeting rooms are to die for!

I haven’t even got to the best part yet! When DiGi acquired the site, it came with a hill and a granite rock formation. The cleverly placed their telecommunications tower at the top of the hill and in a stroke of brilliance, created a lovely waterfall out of the granite formation.

Imagine working in an environment like that!

Unfortunately it was night time and the combination of poor light and point-and-shoot camera made sure my pictures were not too good.

The party was great too. The DiGi people, led by their CEO Morten Lundal, certainly know how to celebrate. The way Morten played the guitar and especially the drums; he could have probably ended up playing professionally for a band if he had not ventured into the corporate world. The music as terrific, as the band in attendance played my kind of songs (read: eighties music).

Other than a few heart stopping moments when the MC went around choosing victims for his sadistic games, I had a real fun time.

I got to go back there one day soon when there is still light to take pictures of the new building and especially that waterfall. Maybe DiGi will invite me back there soon.

And if you were wondering if Telenor were planning to exit our country, I think D’House confirms they are here to stay long term.
