As you all know, Sony is buying out Sony Ericsson and what better way to make it big than in CES 2012. During the event, Sony unveiled four Xperia phones : Xperia Ion, Xperia S, Xperia Acro HD and Xperia NX. Too bad the last two of these devices will only be available in Japan.

The Sony Xperia Ion should be Sony's latest flagship phone. It will be made available on Q2 this year. This NFC and 4G-LTE enabled phone will be the company's first dual-core device with 1.5 GHz processor. The 4.6-inch smartphone has not one but two HD cameras. The rear camera is equipped with a 12 megapixel camera that can record 1080p video and Sony promises that it can snap pictures within 1.5 seconds from standby mode. The front-facing camera can record at 720p. Did we also mention that it is PlayStation certified? With Sony, it is. The downsides? Sony Xperia Ion comes with Android 2.3.7. That means no Ice Cream Sandwich, but it is coming soon. Also, this will be exclusively for the US only.

Finally, the identity of Xperia Nozomi is revealed – Sony Xperia S. For those who yearn for the Xperia Ion, this seems to be the international version of it. The specs are all the same but you will get a smaller display at 4.3 inches. No complains there. Like the Xperia Ion, it comes with Android Gingerbread.  It will be available Q1 this year and the update to Ice Cream Sandwich will be on Q2 2012.
