Western Digital has launched My Book Live Duo, a personal cloud storage system.

My Book Live Duo combines shared storage and remote access with double-safe backup or increased capacity of a dual-drive system with RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) technology.

My Book Live Duo is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard, or Lion, as well as DLNA/UPnP enabled devices.

For both Mac and PC, My Book Live Duo keeps a second copy of all files for real-time data backup in mirrored mode (RAID 1). One half stores users’ data and the other half a second copy. It can also automatically backup Windows users using WD SmartWare software. Mac users can use Time Machine backup software to protect data. The system can combine two drives into one drive. There is an 800 MHz CPU for faster read speeds than USB 2.0 drives.

The user can connect My Book Live Duo to the home network as a  shared storage that he can remotely access via www.WD2go.com or using WD mobile apps for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or Android smartphones and tablets.

The My Book Live Duo system has a media server for streaming movies, photos and music to any DLNA multimedia device like a WD TV Live streaming media player, Blu-ray Disc player, PlayStation 3, as well as Xbox 360s and smart TVs. Users can also stream movies, photos and music to a tablet or smartphone via the WD 2go app.

My Book Live Duo personal cloud storage is selling at selected retailers and resellers at RM1,299 for 4 TB and RM1,499 for 6 TB. It is distributed by SiS Distribution (M) Sdn Bhd and Amble Action Sdn Bhd.
