Nokia held a preview session for its couple of phones from its brand spanking new Lumia line. The Lumia line is Nokia’s Windows Phone based smartphone range. Both of the phones are touted as stunningly social with familiar Nokia elements.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is basically the twin brother of the Nokia N9 save for the fact that it doesn’t run on the short-lived MeeGo OS. Windows Phone Mango is introduced here and it comes with the same design as the N9. These phones are being dubbed as the first real Windows Phones. Besides that, the Lumia 800 has Nokia’s ClearBlack curved display on its 3.7 inch AMOLED screen. Camera-wise, it comes packed with an 8 megapixel Carl Zeiss optics shooter with dual LED flash and HD playback. Internal storage maxes out at 16GB with 25GB of SkyDrive available.
The Nokia Lumia 710 is the more fun of the two phones, with up to 5 exchangeable back covers. It is just slightly lower spec-ed than the 800, but still a very good phone in its own respect. A 5 megapixel camera is included with 8GB of storage. Unlike the 800, it gets by on a TFT display.
Both the 800 and 710 are armed with a 1.4 GHz processor, hardware acceleration and graphics processor. The couple of beauties are also definitely designed for instant social and image sharing since it combines your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts into one feed. Moving with the times, Nokia also pushes both these phones into the MicroSim category.
Marketplace availability is not confirmed yet but Nokia has said that it is working closely with Microsoft to make this possible. If all else fails, consumers will be guided towards Singapore’s Marketplace instead.
Sounds very interesting right? The launch date has not been confirmed yet but Nokia has stated that it will be very soon.
