Dell Streak 5 Comes to Malaysia

  • PDF

Dell sure took their time to bring the Streak (5) into Malaysia. The official launch just ended a couple of hours ago.

Only noticeable difference compared to other recent launched Android devices is that it spots a 5" screen. In fact, Mobile World Magazine has already reviewed the Dell Streak (albeit without the suffix 5) for the February 2011 issue, which was purchased on-line by one of our writers from the States.

You can get the info on the Streak 5 HERE so I won’t bore you with details. The retail price in Malaysia is RM 2,099 compared to the RM2,300 our writer purchased on-line and it's available here now.

But here’s a video I took on a demo by Mr Tong Kai Loong, Director for Mobility Dell Sales, Malaysia & Singapore.

Interesting to note how tough the Gorilla Glass on the Dell Streak 5 is……

MobileFest February Meet

  • PDF

The phenomenon of Android operating system conquering the mobile user market in Malaysia can be seen clearly in our recent MobileFest February Meet.  Just to name a few, we can see Samsung Galaxy S, HTC Desire Z, Motorola Defy, and then Adam tablet, of which is running on Android 2.2.

The tablet market for Android is not lonely anymore, with iPad being the most popular tablet around the world.  Soon, we will see more tablets running on Android, Adam is one of them.  The boot camp in Mac OS, soon probably need to incorporate for Android or Chrome, which in a recent article published in Engadget, it can be done.

The recent MobileFest meet, attended by 13 of us at Cantina@KD, a café owned and operated by Lawrence, who is also a MobileFest member.

We intend to have a security session on the mobile platform, however, we did not manage to.  Mainly the focus has been on Bernie’s Amazon Kindle 3.  Kindle 3, which Bernie bought from a dealer in Malaysia, is definitely a must have for those like to read.  Too bad that the PDF support on Kindle 3 does not allow zoom in.  So can only viewing it as it is.  Nice device, if you have RM700 to spare.

Special thanks to Bernard who brought us many gadgets, as he always does J.  We have HTC Desire Z, Motorola Defy, BlackBerry 9780 black and BlackBerry 9780 white.  Of course iPhone 4 as well.  So far, Samsung Galaxy S provides the best screen ever, still.

Also great to have chef Joe, Elaine (Joe’s wife), Kevin, blogger Saimatkong joining us this round.

We will be holding the March meeting with the details out soon.
